If you are living in Bracknell and are struggling to get on the property ladder then there are many schemes to choose from.
One of these schemes is the My Homebuy scheme run by Bracknell Forest Council. This programme helps first time buyer’s purchase an equity share in a property.
To apply for one of the schemes offered, people should have lived in Bracknell for a minimum of 5 years, must be over 18, be a first time buyer, work at least 16 hours a week, earn between £20,000 and £60,000 and have a good credit history. In addition to this, people must also have enough savings to cover the deposit for the property and be able to cover purchase costs.
Another scheme is the Cash Incentive scheme. This is for social housing tenants and this scheme will help them purchase their own property by being given a grant of £38,000.
Simon Hendy, the Chief Officer for housing stated “There are lots of people in the borough who are earning good salaries but because banks are demanding such huge deposits they are struggling to get a foot on the ladder. These schemes will help first time buyers secure their first home and help support the local housing market.”
Councilllor Dale Birch commented on the new schemes saying that potential buyers need help finding suitable and affordable housing and that the council was committed to providing this help.
